My Opera wishlist

I currently use Opera 8.02 at Linux. Most of these wishes are here since version 7.54 and are still valid.

Inside parenthesis is the date corresponding thread in opera.wishlist. Wishes are sorted by date of thread. Wishes without a thread (or without a precise date of thread) aren't sorted.


- Some way to delete some messages from a POP server.
- Server side M2 filters would be cool.
- Notification of new newsgroups on server.
- Rename attachments in "Compose" window.
- A better "you received messages" notification (should list how many messages per account, maybe the better would be a little "log window" inside or available in Mail panel).
- An easy way of adding user stylesheets.
- Allow user to make user stylesheet selection global or local (per-window).
- An easy way to "export" my profile directory to another computer.
- Support for -o-link for HTML files (very useful in user stylesheets).
- Show destination of links from Navigation toolbar.
- Enable "Links panel" inside M2. This will allow multiple attachment save, and also will make easier to extract URLs from messages. (in 7.50, Links panel is available, but does not show attachments) (in 8.0, there is now a nice save attachment window, so no need for this wish anymore)
- Mouse wheel over page bar should cycle pages, just like "fluxbox" window manager on Linux.
- "display: inline-block" fixed; "overflow: pre-wrap" and "overflow: pre-line" implemented. (see "inline-block" bug at 2004-05-12 on opera.page-display)
- Regular expressions on most (or all) search fields (and in page search). This needs an option to turn it off (by default) so that new users won't have problems.
- Navigation bar and Fast forward working well when page has frames. (2003-11-08 on opera.page-display)
- Bug in user stylesheet linking an image solved. (2003-12-02 on opera.page-display)
- "Next/Previous view" and "Next view with unread messages" actions. (2004-01-16)
- Show size and real URL of downloading files inside "Download file" dialog. In addition, allow to copy the URL to clipboard. (2004-01-23) (Opera 7.50 already shows the file size, but not the URL)
- "Delete file" item in context menu of transfers dialog/panel. (cross-platform and Linux compatible). (thread on 2004-01-23, post on 2004-01-31; and thread on 2004-01-26, post on 2004-01-30)
- Save alternate stylesheet selection for sites/pages. (2004-01-25)
- Tip of the day or some other way to make users know about cool features. (2004-01-27)
- Multiple link download. (2004-02-02) (Maybe fixed on 7.50, I haven't tried) (Now there is a "Quick download". It works, but the user should be able to select the download folder each time "Quick download" is clicked.)
- Disable pop-up error windows! (2004-02-17 and 2004-06-21) (They don't exist anymore in 8.0, except for M2 error windows)
- Always show Address bar on pop-up windows. (2004-02-22 and 2004-05-29) (Fixed in Opera 8)
- Better URL autocomplete, making easiear to select one URL among lots of similar. (2004-02-23)
- Show title attribute when using keyboard navigation. (2004-02-25)
- Trigger :hover when using keyboard navigation.
- Show raw message text inside Opera or in source viewer. (2004-03-05)
- By default, Ctrl+Alt+S assigned to "Save with images". (2004-03-10) (not needed anymore in Opera 8)
- Autocomplete for newsgroups in Compose window. (2004-03-14 and 2005-07-28)
- Some non-global way to stop automatic page refresh. (override meta-refresh). (2004-03-21)
- Bookmarklets always reuse current page. (2004-03-22) (Haven't tried in Opera 8, don't know if it is fixed)
- Print scale buttons (increase/decrease print scale). (2004-04-07)
- Always open a page inside current page window (override target=_blank). (2004-04-09)

- Per panel GUI option for "Hotlist single click". (2004-05-12)

- Those little icons "Show read", "Show trash", "Show spam" and so on at M2 windows. These were removed in Opera 8. (2005-07-07)
- Possibility to place "Channel name" and "Channel description" side-by-side in Chat window. (2005-07-07)
